Madison Avenue, New York

A cut takes time.

We never rushed a haircut in our lives. Good work demands patience, and patience is what this shop was built on.

12 chairs. No waiting room.

We opened the doors in 2014.

James Mitchell had spent eighteen years cutting hair in London, Milan, and a small shop in Brooklyn where he learned that speed impresses no one. When he found the Madison Avenue space — a narrow room with tall windows and good light — he called Marcus, who he'd trained a decade earlier, and asked if he wanted to build something that took its time.

They stripped the place down to the brick. Put in twelve chairs, no more. Found a barber who knew how to sharpen his own razors. Another who could shape a beard without rushing. The idea was simple: do less, do it well, and charge what it's worth.

We still don't take walk-ins during peak hours. Not because we're exclusive. Because a good haircut doesn't happen in fifteen minutes.

What we do

Six services. No shortcuts.

Haircut

Wash, cut, style. We use shears, not clippers, wherever possible. Every cut ends with a hot towel and a tonic massage.

$55 45 min

Beard trim

Hot towel, scissor work, and a straight-razor edge-up. Finished with oil and balm. We'll reshape your entire beard if it needs it.

$35 30 min

Hot towel shave

Three hot towels. A straight razor sharpened on leather. Cold splash, alum block, and a frankincense balm to finish. This is the closest shave you'll get.

$65 50 min

Style & finish

For events, photos, or whenever you need to look like you tried. Deep-conditioning wash, blow-dry, and product application. We'll teach you how to do it yourself.

$75 60 min

Kids cut

For children twelve and under. We're patient. We keep a stool by the mirror so they can watch. Lollipop included, always.

$35 30 min
